How Rubber-Cal Contributes to Environmental Preservation

Here at Rubber-Cal, we strive to do our part in protecting the environment and reducing the amount of non-biodegradable waste in our landfills. According to CalRecycle, millions of tires are discarded every year into our landfills and have been for decades since the automobile was introduced to society. This is a detrimental and alarming statistic as rubber is not a biodegradable material and will like sit in the landfill and reduce the amount of space available for waste that is biodegradable. So, how exactly is Rubber-Cal helping to resolve this problem? We do so by providing a line of environmentally friendly rubber flooring options that will help reduce the amount of rubber in the environment.

Natural Rubber

Natural rubber products, as its name implies, is the most natural form of eco-friendly flooring we offer. Rubber is a natural material that is harvested from the Hevea brasiliensis tree, also known as the rubber tree. The latex sap is harvested from the trunk of the tree and collected to later be produced into rubber. Natural rubber is an eco-friendly material because, since it is naturally occurring in the environment, it is a biodegradable material.

Recycled and Reclaimed Rubber

Both recycled and reclaimed rubber are made of old or discarded vehicle tire rubber. This is beneficial to the environment because, instead of the old rubber tires just sitting in the landfill, they are being repurposed into other products. This reduces the amount of non-biodegradable waste in the landfill and creates more room for biodegradable waste.
